Backups are created automatically on the day you open Outbank when there is a change in the database, for example, when you have new transactions.
The backup files are stored under
~/Library/Containers/com.stoegerit.outbank.osx/Data/Documents/backups/
on your Mac.
Starting with macOS 11.0, the backups can be found under ~/Library/Containers/Outbank/Data/Documents/backups/.
You can go directly to the backup folder from Outbank:
Start Outbank > click on 'File' > 'Backups'
or go to the Settings of the App > 'Security' > 'Show Backups'
Start the restore process by double-clicking on the backup data you want to use.
Important notes:
- When restoring a backup, you must use the same App Password you used when creating the backup file. It might be different from your current App password.
- If you restore an older backup, your current data will be overwritten. You will have to log in again with your existing Outbank ID.
- If you are using data synchronization between multiple devices, you need to reset the 'Secure Sync' :
- After restoring the backup, log in with your Outbank ID.
- Go to 'Settings' and tap on 'Reset Secure Sync'.
- Your devices will be disconnected from each other and sync data will be deleted. The local data on the device remains unaffected.
- Activate the 'Secure Sync' again to upload the local data to the cloud.
- Start Outbank on your other devices one by one and reactivate 'Secure Sync' to overwrite the local data with the sync data from the first device.
